Always use a double boiler to melt beeswax - never on direct heat.

A couple other tips: To portion out beeswax for your recipes, try melting the whole block then pouring into silicone muffin tins. Once cool you will have a number of smaller portions. OR, put in the freezer. Beeswax is brittle when very cold - use a small hammer to break up the block if you want smaller pieces to melt.

When buying beeswax online, always be sure to check the source. Check the origin, and be sure that you trust the source, to be assured you are purchasing 100% pure beeswax. Most bulk wax is not finely filtered so you would need to filter it yourself - if you want to save this step, our beeswax is ready to go for you. No more filtering necessary!
