Botanical Name: Plantago ovata
Psyllium is mucilaginous and swells up when introduced to water. It is often used in cooking and can be added to breads, tortillas, bagels, and desserts as a healthful ingredient. Psyllium husk is demulcent and helps to provide support for the digestive track. Our psyllium powder is ground from Plantago ovata husks and can be used in cooking as a thickening agent. Psyllium husk powder can also be employed as an ingredient in skin care creations.
Also called Indian psyllium and blonde psyllium, the plant belongs to the Plantaginaceae family. As a tea. The ground or whole husk must always be taken with at least 1 full glass of water. May also be taken as an extract or capsule form though rare. Because of its rather neutral flavor it may be added to most food dishes.
